Our Storage Stars Referral Program rewards you for connecting us with top talent. When your referral is hired and completes 90 days, you'll receive a bonus — net after taxes (that's right, we cover the taxes for you!).

💰 Referral Bonus Amounts
Referral bonuses are paid within two pay periods after your referral completes 90 days of employment. *
Position Type & Bonus Amount (Net)
Property Manager and C3 Non-Exempt: $500**
District Manager: $5000
Corporate & C3 Exempt: $1500
Corporate Non-Exempt: $1000
*The Referring Employee will get the full bonus amount listed. The bonus will be included as a separate line item in their regular payroll deposit.

Step 1: Use the Storage Stars Employee Referral System to send your referral a link to apply

Step 2: Timing Matters
- Send the link to your referral before they apply
- Your referral should apply and be hired within 6 months of your submission
Step 3: They Get Hired & Stay 90 Days
- Your referral must complete 90 days of employment
- Both you and your referral must still be actively employed when the bonus is processed
Step 4: Get Paid!
- HR and Payroll process your bonus within 1–2 pay periods after the 90-day mark
📋 Program Rules & Eligibility
Who Can Participate?
All active Public Storage employees except:
- Employees with access to company sourcing tools (e.g., LinkedIn Recruiter)
- Recruiting Staff
- HR Directors
- Hiring Managers may not refer a candidate that will report to them.
- Employees directly involved in the hiring process for a job may not refer candidates to that job. This includes reviewing resumes, sourcing, interviewing, decision making, etc.
- Any conflict-of-interest situations (to be determined by HR)
Referral Requirements
To qualify for a bonus, the following should be true:
✔️ Your referral applies via the link you provided
✔️ The candidate has not applied to or been in our system in the past 6 months
✔️ The candidate has not been referred in the past 6 months
✔️ The candidate has not worked at Public Storage in the past 24 months
✔️ The candidate completes 90 days of employment
✔️ Both you and the candidate are actively employed when the bonus is paid
✔️ The candidate is hired within 6 months of your referral submission
🚫 Retroactive referrals are discouraged. However, if your referral applies without accepting the referral link you provided, you still have 30 days from their application date to log your referral. See FAQs for more information.
