Employee Referral Program Rules

  • The bonus amount for each successful referral will be net after taxes, which means Public Storage pays all applicable taxes. Payment to be issued within two pay periods after the referral’s 90th day of employment.
    • Referrals for Property Manager, non-exempt Corporate and C3 employees will be paid a net amount of $300 after the referred employee completes 90 days of employment
    • Referrals for Corporate and Real Estate Exempt position employees will be paid a net amount of $5,000 after the referred employee completes 90 days of employment
    • Referrals for District Manager employees will be paid a net amount of $5,000 after the referred employee completes 90 days of employment
  • The Employee Referral Program is open to all active employees with the following exceptions:
    • The Hiring Manager or team members directly involved in the hiring process
    • Team members with access to company provided sourcing tools
    • HR Directors
    • Recruiting Staff
  • In order to receive a referral bonus, ALL of the following conditions must be met:
    • The referring employee must submit their referral’s details using the Public Storage Employee Referral System
      • Name, email address, and phone number are required
    • The referring employee must submit the referral prior to their referred candidate submitting their application
    • The referred candidate must not have applied to or been added to a Public Storage job or our application system within the prior 6 months
      • The system will reject referrals of candidates added to the system within 6 months of the referral date
    • The referred candidate must not have been referred in the prior 24 months
      • The system will reject referrals of candidates referred to Public Storage within 24 months of the referral date
    • The referred candidate must complete a minimum of 90 days of employment with Public Storage
    • The referred candidate must be employed and Active at the time the award becomes payable (typically 1-2 pay periods after the 90th day)
    • The referring employee must be employed and Active at the time the award becomes payable (typically 1-2 pay periods after the 90th day)
    • Property Manager Referrals:
    • District Manager (Field Management) Referrals
    • Corporate & Real Estate Exempt Referrals
    • Call Center (C3) and Non-Exempt Corporate Referrals
    • The referred candidate must complete an online application and be hired within 6 months of original referral date.
      • Referrals are valid for 6 months
    • To be eligible as a referral, a candidate must not have been employed by Public Storage within the previous 24 months.
  • Retroactive submittals are not eligible and will not be considered.
  • Once the referred candidate has worked the required amount of time, the Human Resources Department will work with Payroll to ensure the referral award is processed.
  • The Human Resources Department reserves the right to determine eligibility for all referrals, up to and including deeming them ineligible, at their discretion.
