The Manager, Fraud and Investigations, serves as a collaborative business partner responsible for identifying, assessing, and helping mitigate loss due to external and internal fraud, theft and other criminal threats and risks across the organization. This role partners with Operations, Finance, Human Resources, Legal, Technology and Risk Management, as well as external partners in the fraud mitigation and law enforcement sectors to review and assess potential loss risks, conduct fair and objective investigations, document findings, and support consistent resolution of internal and external matters. This position requires strong analytical and investigative abilities, along with sound judgment, strong communication skills, the ability to manage multiple priorities, and a commitment to confidentiality, compliance, and company values.
Key Responsibilities
• Collaborate with internal partners to develop and continuously update analytical reporting targeted at identifying patterns of internal and external fraud, theft and misappropriation of company and customer assets, information and finances.
• Proactively analyze fraud data, transaction activity, and exception reports to identify suspicious trends, patterns, and anomalies.
• Conduct thorough investigations involving internal concerns, external fraud, and organized retail crime (ORC), ensuring findings are documented clearly, objectively, and in alignment with company standards.
• Review and investigate potential employee-related policy violations or integrity concerns in a fair, professional, confidential, and compliant manner.
• Manage multiple investigations simultaneously while prioritizing case activity based on risk, loss exposure, business impact, and urgency.
• Collaborate with law enforcement and prosecutorial agencies, when appropriate, to support resolution of internal and external cases, including preparation of relevant documentation and evidence.
• Partner with cross-functional teams including Finance, Operations, HR, and Legal to resolve fraud-related incidents and strengthen controls.
• Identify gaps in processes, policies, and systems that may expose the organization to fraud risk and recommend mitigation strategies.
• Maintain detailed investigative case files while ensuring adherence to confidentiality and legal requirements.
• Support internal audits and external regulatory inquiries related to fraud and financial controls.
• Provide insights and reporting to leadership on fraud trends, key risk indicators, and emerging threats.
• Assist in the development and delivery of fraud and theft awareness training and best practices across the organization.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of fraud detection methodologies, tools, and investigative techniques.
