Job Description

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a National Solar Asset Manager to be based out of our office in Plano, TX. This position will be responsible for supporting the asset management and O&M needs of our growing solar portfolio that is expected to grow to over 1000 installed systems by 2025. This role will report to the National Energy Asset Manager, and you will lead a team of Solar Operations Specialists. You'll also interact with other team members, including Finance, to establish the monthly, quarterly, and annual operating plan for Solar Asset Management and Solar O&M, and strategically manage the team to ensure the portfolio is meeting production targets. Were looking for an individual with solar asset management and O&M experience to build this relatively new business unit, and your role will be pivotal to Public Storages ongoing success, contributing to our sustainable growth strategy and the development of strategic plans for managing and improving renewable energy generation. Responsibilities

  • Responsible for defining and managing the strategic process of identifying and tracking alerts and/or production performance issues vs expected. Fully understand variances and proactively develop correction plans to meet performance objectives.
  • Define and manage the process of handover from our field construction team. Commission and validate full visibility on the current monitoring platform (LOCUS).
  • Reconcile all expected production data in the monitoring platform is both accurate and aligned with underwriting assumptions and individual property contracts.
  • Onboard new solar systems onto the monitoring platform from acquisitions, redevelopments, and new build construction projects.
  • Continuously seek opportunities to improve and optimize generation performance.
  • Partner with Finance to track and report financial performance on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis and establish an ongoing forecast for the year.
  • Cultivate a high-performance team to support delivering the requirements of the business function with scalability.
  • Continuously research and explore best industry practices and new technology for monitoring and/or O&M, and recommend opportunities to improve efficiencies in productivity and operating margins of the business.
  • Coordinate with local Facilities Asset Managers around the company to help with understanding property level issues as necessary.
  • Manage ongoing O&M agreements and recommend local, regional, national O&M strategies based on market needs.
  • Prepare and provide performance data as necessary to satisfy sustainability reporting and the monetizing or RECs.
  • Participate in additional sustainability initiatives to help drive company strategic objectives.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years solar asset management experience managing systems across a large portfolio. 
  • Demonstrated experience leading a team.
  • Strong understanding of technical solar asset management.
  • Must possess strong finance skills, including budget development, ongoing project cost monitoring and large contract management.
  • Must have worked in a corporate environment and possess a customer centric attitude with the ability to collaborate, communicate and interact with various management levels within the organization. 
  • An undergraduate degree from an accredited 4-year university in related field, preferred
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills
  • Frequent travel may be required
